Well done to everyone who particpated in the Networking Day and first awards ceremony.   We are delighted to be say that the feedback from our members has been very positive.

The day started off with a reception where members from each station mingled and had a chat over a cup of tea. At eleven O clock the speakers took to the podium, compere for the day was Noel Welch from CUH FM.

The first speaker was Patricia Kelly, Executive Officer of the BAI who spoke of the Broadcast Levy, Budgets in the current financial climate  and the role of Networks into the future.

Tom Noctor gave his address at this stage in which he outlined the progress the network had made since our last networking day in 2008 and our plans for the future. He thanked the BAI and the existing committee and members for the support they have given him during his tenure as IHRN Chairman. He announced that there would be an election for a new committee in the next month or so.

Richard Smith of the AtoZ of pop was next to take to the floor and he gave a very entertaining and interesting talk on the role of Hospital Radio and his experiences as presenter and station manager.

Pat Kennedy who host's a show on an American radio stationwas next to speak giving an insight into how radio operates in USA.

Last to speak before lunch was Paul Doyle of The Mater Hospital Radio who gave a talk on what Hospital Radio should be and how it should interact with it's target audience.

During lunch a magician performed close up table magic at each table. The idea behind this was to break the ice at each table and get the members from the different station chatting to each other, which it did.

After lunch we had our presentations. First we had the presentation of service pins. This was followed the our first awards ceremony.  All nominees received a certificate and the winners received a very nice glass trophy produced by  Blarney Crystal.
